What is the difference between retinal, retinol, and the retinyl ester?
Retinol, retinal and retinyl ester are all forms of retinoids, but the three follow their own conversion process to convert into retinoic acid on the skin at different rates! Retinyl ester is the most gentle while retinal is the most potent. Using these three forms of retinoids helps to maximize the skin benefits while minimizing the potential for irritation or sensitivity.
How often can I use this serum?
We recommend using Blackberry Retinol Blemish Serum every other day at night to start, and slowly increase frequency as desired as your skin becomes accustomed to the formula! Consistency is key, continue to use the formula to see maximum results.
Is Blackberry Retinol Serum suitable for younger consumers to use?
While we formulate our products to be gentle for all skin, we generally recommend using Blackberry Retinol Serum starting in your 20s! We recommend consulting with a dermatologist if you are curious about starting retinol at an earlier age.
Will this product cause a purge effect and how long will it last?
Our Blackberry Retinol Blemish Serum was specially formulated with our 0.16% triple-retinoid blend to maximize the retinol benefits while minimizing side effects such as purging! However, if purging does occur it should subside within an estimated two weeks. We always recommend patch testing before using all over the face, and slowly introduce this product to your routine starting just 2-3 times per week to minimize potential purging.
Can I use other serums such as exfoliants or actives in a routine with Blackberry?
We recommend using Blackberry Retinol Serum during your night routine, alternating nights with other actives such as chemical exfoliants and vitamin C! You can also use other actives during your day routine as well. This will help to avoid potential signs of sensitivity or irritation. Be sure to always wear sunscreen during the day, and consult a dermatologist with any questions about incorporating retinol into your routine!
